Question: Why is Ghost in the Shell so popular?

Trying to disprove someone's preferences is an exercise in futility. I personally loved the show and feel it accurately depicts a possible, but more like probable, future for humans, namely cybernetic integration. The show does a good job of portraying this society along with the dangers and advantages of using technology. Chobits did a good job at this as well but from a cute and personal prospective.
