I am 5'6, about 110 lbs... I kind of have big thighs (23inches around).?

Yes that would help but you need to really work at it , like ten minutes a day will make no difference , at least thirty minutes is needed and as you become fitter you could do two sessions of thirty minutes a day. Plus you also need to modify your diet so as to reduce sugars and fats and increase fresh fruits and veggies.
